Ready to Rock and Roll
After a quick papered we moved our kit to the front of college and waited for the buss to arrive around 9:15 matt came out and completed the group nominal role and we had a group photograph.
The Troop
We departed around 10:45 and set off for the peaks the bus journey didn’t take long and we soon arrived at our location
On arrival at the campsite we moved our kit to the top left hand corner of the field and formed a L shape around the perimeter of the field with the tent doors facing outwards, the staff where located at the bottom of the field.
We then set up our tents in our tent groups , for this part we used team work to get the job done quicker, these tents would be our homes for the next two and a half days
Setting Up camp
Home Sweet Home
After we set up the tent and unpacked we had our lunch and brewed up you can’t have camping without a good brew!!
Brew Time
After lunch we were broken into walking groups – groups 1, 2, 3 we then set of on our first walk to the climbing area we worked out that the walk was about 6 miles long and we completed it in really good time we then arrived at the rock climbing location.
On Route
The Rock!!!
When we arrived at the site we were met by Adrian and the staff who gave us a little taster about rock climbing this went on to the different types of knots used and the equipment and giving us a feel of what next year could be like if we choose the armed forces and outdoor path ways.
Mikey at the Foot of the Rock
We were then given the chance to have a go at climbing two different climbing routes I can safely say that we really enjoyed it and where successful in reaching the top this was a very good taster and because we were a mixture of different groups it gave us the chance of interacting and coming together to making a really strong group.
